What's CITY Talking About
AISD Has a New Budget
Austin Independent School District’s new budget, which was approved by trustees before the long weekend, includes cuts to student programs, hundreds of staff jobs, and transportation options. The district is facing a $60 million deficit, but could end up with a balanced budget if it sells off enough of its property. [Austin American-Statesman]
- After outrage over a proposal to cut a number of librarians, district officials included an amendment in the budget to give every AISD campus at least one full-time librarian. [KXAN]

City To Launch Spending Site
Austin’s Financial Services Department will start publishing city spending reports on a public site at the start of the next fiscal year. Reports will be published monthly and include spending by the mayor and city council. [Fox 7 Austin]
