UT Has Removed Its Cesar Chavez Statue
Workers removed a statue of labor leader Cesar Chavez on the University of Texas at Austin campus last week after multiple sexual assault allegations were made against Chavez in March. The statue is being moved into the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History. [The Daily Texan]
A Renovated Mexican American Cultural Center Is Now Open
Austin’s Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center near Rainey Street is back open after a roughly $25 million renovation. The facility’s galleries have been updated and new music rehearsal rooms have been added. [Axios Austin]
