The lot that contains a Chili’s Grill & Bar on Lamar Boulevard at 45th Street is for sale. The restaurant’s lease runs through 2029, and a new buyer could negotiate with Chili’s. [Austin American-Statesman]

Big Bend National Park Border Wall Seemingly on Hold
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection map of the area containing Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park no longer shows a border wall planned for the area, as of April 2. The removal comes after widespread opposition to the plan. [The Texas Tribune]

A Self-Driving Vehicle Killed a Mueller Lake Duck, Neighbors Say
Neighbors of Mueller Lake Park say an Avride autonomous vehicle did not stop as it drove through the area and ended up fatally hitting a duck. The car company says it's investigating the incident. [City Cast Austin 🎧]
Austin Wants Input on Cesar Chavez Street
Four Austin City Council members want to host listening sessions and offer public surveys on renaming Cesar Chavez Street following multiple sexual assault allegations against the labor leader. Possible replacements for the street name include First Street or naming it after Dolores Huerta, a labor leader who worked with Chavez, or Jorge Pastore, an Austin police officer who died in 2023. Parts of San Marcos River Now Require Entry Fee
Adults who do not live in San Marcos will now be charged $5 to visit Rio Vista Park, a popular swimming spot in the Central Texas town. People younger than 18 still have free access to the park. [KXAN]
Texas French Bread Planning April Soft Opening
