Third Victim Has Died in Buford’s Shooting
Austin police confirmed 30-year-old Jorge Pederson died on Monday following the weekend shooting at Buford's Backyard Beer Garden. Two other victims, 19-year-old Ryder Harrington and 21-year-old Savitha Shan, were identified by police on Monday. The suspected shooter, Ndiaga Diagne, 53, was killed by police. [City Cast Austin]
- Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis also said the guns Diagne used on Sunday were acquired legally and he had not been on federal or local law enforcement’s radar.
- In a news conference on Monday, officials said they don’t believe a stopped Waymo near the shooting had any impact on patient outcomes.
- Austinites turned out in droves on Monday to give blood following the shooting at Buford’s. Council member Zohaib “Zo” Qadri, whose district the shooting happened in, said officials had to turn people away from the blood drive because so many showed up.
Urth Caffe To Take Over Former Cenote Location
Urth Caffe, a Los Angeles-based coffee shop, is set to open next spring at 1010 E. Cesar Chavez St., where Cenote was formerly located. Cenote reopened on Seventh Street in August. [Austin Business Journal]
