🚨 Hello, Monday! Some redistricting news happened over the weekend – the Supreme Court ruled that Texas can use its newly redrawn congressional maps after the state requested a pause in a court ruling that put the 2021 maps in use. Plaintiffs will make their case today as to why the new maps shouldn’t be used.

🏅 3 Austin Restaurants Ranked in Greatest of the 21st Century List
Birdie’s, Uchi, and Franklin Barbecue were the only Austin restaurants to make Robb Report’s list of the 100 greatest American restaurants of the 21st century. Franklin Barbecue had the highest ranking of the three, coming in at No. 17. [Robb Report]

🤔 Was Travis County’s Tax Increase Necessary? Brown Thinks So.
Travis County commissioners approved a 9% increase in property taxes this year to replenish its disaster relief fund. Judge Andy Brown says the increase, which the county is now being sued over, was needed. [City Cast Austin 🎧]
✏️ AISD Will Close 10 Campuses After Vote
Students at 10 Austin Independent School District schools will be rezoned next year after the district’s Board of Trustees voted to close the campuses this month. The district plans to repurpose the campuses. [Austin American-Statesman]
📃 Family Sues UT Fraternity Over Student Death
The family of Sawyer Lee Updike is suing the Alpha Nu chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity at the University of Texas at Austin. The family says Updike commit suicide in January 2024 during a hazing ritual. The chapter was later shut down. [KVUE]
