📵 Apple Shuts Down ICE-Tracking App

Apple says it pulled the Austin-based crowdsourcing app ICEBlock from its App Store based on safety concerns it received from law enforcement, but did not provide further details. The app allows users to anonymously report immigration agent sightings, though it’s been under scrutiny after a Dallas man reportedly used it before a shooting at an immigration detention facility in September. 🕳️ Bastrop Courts Elon Musk for Pedestrian Tunnels

The City of Bastrop is considering building a system of tunnels that would safely connect pedestrians to its trail system, and it wants design help from Musk’s Boring Company. City officials don’t expect the Boring Company to help fund the pedestrian tunnel, so the estimated cost of $5 to $7 million would come from a mix of private and public money. [KUT]

🚔 Austin Outlines ‘Crime Hotspot’ Task Force

City leaders shared the first of several planned operations targeting what it calls “prominent violent hot spots,” an effort that targeted two nightclubs in northeast Austin. Austin Police said they’re partnering with the FBI and other agencies for at least another four operations. [KXAN]
