🗳️ Mayoral Hopeful's Recount Request Is Denied

Carmen Llanes Pulido requested a recount of mayoral election votes in 11 Williamson County precincts on Thursday, but within hours, heard from Austin’s City Clerk that the request was "defective." She is unsure if she’ll appeal. [KUT]

  • Llanes Pulido told City Cast Austin she checked with the Texas Secretary of State’s Office before filing. “We were told we were perfectly fine,” she said.
  • In a statement, Mayor Kirk Watson, who won his re-election, said he was ready to return to work, adding, "Hopefully, now that the effort to deny the election has been found defective, we can.”
