Mayor Kirk Watson declared victory in the Austin mayoral race late Thursday after avoiding a runoff against Carmen Llanes Pulido by just 14 votes. [KXAN]

She said in a statement to City Cast Austin, in part, "We owe it to Austinites who have made it clear that they want new and accountable leadership, to ensure that every single vote is accurately counted and every voice is heard.”

📄 DA Garza Sues State Over Release of Security Records

Travis County District Attorney José Garza is trying to block the release of records related to a secret $115,000 payment he received for security at his home this year. In a lawsuit against the Texas Attorney General’s Office, Garza said that releasing the information would endanger him. [KVUE]
