☕ Good morning! Anyone else need a gallon of coffee after watching votes roll in all night? Don’t worry – the newsletter isn’t too long today. I’ve got the local election results you want to know about and a podcast episode for ya!

What's CITY Talking About?

The City Cast Austin team watched election results come in last night – we ate all the pizza, refreshed all the websites, and sighed a whole lot. Here’s who won what, according to the Travis County Clerk’s office:

🤔 The Mayor Race Is Too Close To Call.

As of 1 a.m., the Austin mayoral race is too close to call, so we’ll have to wait for the official results. Current Mayor Kirk Watson holds 50.05% of the overall vote for mayor with Carmen Llanes Pulido behind at 20.41%. Pulido will be in the race if it goes to a runoff.

Kathie Tovo received 16.70% of the vote, Jeffery Bowen received 8.12%, and Doug Greco received 4.72%.

🏃 City Council District 7 Is Headed to a Runoff.

Mike Siegel and Gary Bledsoe will be in a runoff after a packed race in Austin City Council District 7. Siegel received 39.83% of the vote and Bledsoe received 19.29%.

Pierre Nguyễn received 14.84% of the vote, Adam Powell received 11.16%, Todd Shaw received 8.65%, and Edwin Bautista received 6.22%.

✅ Vanessa Fuentes: 85.65%

Robert Reynolds: 14.35%

City Council District 4

✅ José “Chito” Vela: 58.50%

Monica Guzmán: 27.72%

Louis Herrin: 6.08%

Jim Rabuck: 4.35%

Eduardo "Lalito" Romero: 3.35%

City Council District 6

✅ Krista Laine: 51.56%

Mackenzie Kelly: 48.44%

City Council District 10

✅ Marc Duchen: 50.62%

Ashika Ganguly: 49.38%

Travis County District Attorney:

✅ José Garza: 67.57%

Daniel W. Betts: 32.43%

Austin ISD Proposition A

✅ For: 58%

Against: 42%

Travis County Affordable Child Care Tax Proposal

✅ For: 59.42%

Against: 40.58%

🇺🇲 United States Senator

Though Travis County forked over 70.31% of its votes to Democratic U.S. Rep. Colin Allred, Republican U.S. Sen.Ted Cruz won the Senate seat for the third time.
