American Airlines announced it will cut five nonstop routes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport beginning in October, including flights to Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Palm Springs. The airline had already canceled service to 21 destinations last year. [KVUE]

Austin Energy pushed back against a proposed $4 million increase in its annual transfer to the city’s General Fund, saying it would hurt the utility’s credit rating and could force it to raise rates on consumers.
