🎙️ Austin’s Mount Rushmore

Have you ever wondered who should be on Austin’s Mount Rushmore, if the city had such a thing? Well, we did the hard work for you. Today on the City Cast Austin podcast, I join host Nikki DaVaughn and producer Elissa Rozentuller to debate which Austin icons deserve to be carved into a mountain. [City Cast Austin]

🥵 Fourth of July Forecast: It’s Looking Hot

The Fourth of July is going to be sunny with a high of 100 degrees, according to National Weather Service meteorologists. Low temperatures will be in the upper 70s. Nighttime skies will be mostly clear, which should make for good fireworks shows! Make sure you drink water, wear sunscreen, and take breaks in the shade if you’re going to be outside! 🐶 Intake Closed At Austin Animal Center

Austin Animal Center has temporarily shut down intake due to overcrowding, the shelter announced this week. The shelter is over capacity, after more dogs and cats have been coming in than going out, and will only accept animals with life-threatening injury or illness or those that are a public safety risk. “We did not make this decision lightly,” shelter officials said in an Instagram post. 🏈 Photos: University of Texas’ SEC Festivities

On Sunday, UT threw a campus-wide bash to celebrate its entrance to the Southeastern Conference, or SEC. It was a sweaty, burnt orange affair. If you’re just now catching up: Three people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, including one person who was hurt in a crowd crush during Pitbull’s performance. Sunday night’s event included the first public drone show in the Americas using pyrotechnics. KUT has all the photos from the big celebration. [KUT]
