🚧 New Rainey Street Safety Improvements Almost Done

More than 20 permanent light fixtures are being installed this week on the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail near Rainey Street, as part of an effort to ramp up safety after drownings in the area in recent years. The lighting is the latest addition to the area, which has already received new signage, a permanent camera, and extended fencing. [KUT]

🌬️ Saharan Dust Is Back

It’s that time of year, y’all: Saharan dust has returned to Texas. Most of the dust, which comes from the Saharan Desert in northern Africa, is expected to dissipate by Wednesday. But that won’t be the last we’ll see of the dust this year – Saharan dust usually passes through Texas from mid-June to late August and comes around every three to five days.
