🏖️ Secret Beach has stairs now

June 25, 2024 · Kelsey Bradshaw

🤠 I have a new summer bucket list item. I binged “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” on Netflix over the weekend. The seven-episode documentary follows women as they try out to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and all that follows. It’s inspiring, depressing (because they don’t get paid much), and includes lots of big Texas hair. So, learning how to do a jump split like a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader is now on my summer bucket list! What’s on yours? Thank you to Tecovas, our exclusive launch sponsor and Western wear favs for their support!

💧 Austin Is Nearly As Humid as Houston

Welp. Dew point temperatures are rising, making Austin feel almost just as humid as Houston, the muggiest city to probably ever exist. In Austin last year, the average dew point was 67.5 — only a bit behind Houston, which had an average dew point of 71.5. [Texas Monthly]

🤖 AI May Stress Power Grid

Texas’ power grid operator has said that it can’t forecast how much energy cryptomines and other data centers are going to use this summer, especially as more are built to support artificial intelligence systems, which eats up a lot of energy.

  • “If you do a Google search and just look up, ‘What is ERCOT?’ If you did that with a regular Google system versus an AI Google search, the amount of energy that it takes to run the AI search is between 10 and 30 times the power requirement than to do a traditional Google search,” said ERCOT CEO Pablo Vegas.
