Former City Council member Kathie Tovo launched her mayoral campaign last week saying, “I believe we need new leadership. We need a mayor at City Hall who is focused on working with the community, a mayor who is committed to open and transparent government, who will be a fighter for working families.” [Austin Monitor]
📄 Indictments Detail ‘Live PD’ Case
There’ve been new indictments filed against former Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody and an assistant county attorney, which do not allege new crimes but detail how the pair allegedly hid footage of officers’ interactions with Javier Ambler II. In 2019, deputies tried to pull over and then chased Ambler, while they were being filmed the TV show “Live PD.” After Ambler crashed, deputies held him down and used Tasers on him; Ambler died shortly afterward.
