💰 Coming Soon: Restitution Ranch
A judge gave local conspiracy theorist and Austinite Alex Jones permission to sell his ranch to help pay Sandy Hook families after he was found liable in two defamation suits in 2022. He owes the families of victims of the 2012 elementary school shooting roughly $1 billion. Jones’ 127-acre ranch in nearby Guadalupe County is worth at least $2.8 million. [KUT]
🏠 City to Close Homeless Shelter
Marshalling Yard Temporary Emergency Shelter will close to people experiencing homelessness, the city announced this week, adding they are looking for an alternative to the facility. Intakes will be limited starting on Sept. 1 until the shelter closes entirely on Dec. 1, at which point it will be used for Austin Convention Center storage. [KVUE]
